Third Week

Bongu :)

And the next update is here.

In the library not much happened except 2 new faces - 2 apprentices from Germany, Halle :D

They will stay for 4 weeks, so we'll meet each other a few times I guess.

The usual tasks happened, the spine labels have to be changed. It's timeconsuming, albeit not very difficult. Because the library lacks money we have to use tape and desinfectant to wipe off the old spines and secure the new spine labels. It's actually not very good for the health of books since it's like poison to them :(

Another small task was to prepare envelopes for a presentation in the National Libray.

But I also wanted to tell you some things about Comino.

Comino is the smallest of the three maltese islands with 3.5 square kilometres and has believe it or not 3 residents.

It was inhabited during the Roman period but did not have much significance until later when the Ottoman turks tried to invade and the island was used as a defense outpost. Later again it was used as a hunting area.

Nowadays the island is still visited very well because of the Blue Lagoon. Very clear water with sandy grounds and furthermore a snorkeling paradise.

Downtime :)

After my visitor arrived on wednesday finally we first updated each other and I showed him around the flat and the supermarket and such.

On thursday we went on the road right away and had a cruise to Comino. After having some trouble arriving there due to traffic jams we finally arrived at the Crystal Lagoon.

Grabbing our snorkeling masks, smartphones we jumped into the water and got enchanted by the nice view under water!

After an hour the boat left for the Blue Lagoon which was crammed though due to the boats.. and it stank! Puuuh...

Later around 5 pm most of the boats finally left and there were around 30 people left on the island for 2 hours.. Now it felt really nice and we went for another round of snorkeling but mostly we bathed in the sun and chatted away our time ;)

In the evening we enjoyed the sunset on the way back. When we finally arrived at our room at around 9pm we just took a quick shower and went to bed.

Snorkeling

Friday we went to Mdina in the evening, which is the old (VERY old - like 4000 years old) area where the nobles resided (and reside today as well). Thus also the medival name 'Cita Notabile' - the noble city.

Afterwards we grabbed something to eat in a nice restaurant and around 9pm we went on our way back home.

Mdina

Saturday not much was happening except relaxing and sleeping, mainly because I caught some cold and wasn't feeling well - but that was nothing a few hours of sleep couln't fix.

Sunday we went to Paradise Bay very early. We went snorkeling for a round but went on our way back soon because it was cold and raining.

In the evening we went to Grand Harbour again, because my parents and friends started their cruise there. We met them for a short time and chatted a bit. It was way to short but atleast my small flashing of home sickness went away for the time being ;)

We enjoyed the wind and sunset up there and went home after we got cold. With this another week from my stay is alread over.

A few pictures

A rather quiet week where not much happened. Next week there is more stuff planned and we'll go a bit deeper into the way today - scuba diving ;)

Caw!
